After being benched just a few weeks ago, Anthony Richardson was re-installed as the Colts’ starting quarterback last Sunday vs. the Jets. It appears the move was a smart one, because Richardson looked like a different quarterback after the 2-game hiatus (we’ll see if that continues vs. the Lions this week).
After completing just 44.4% of his passes through his first 6 games of the season (which is hard to do in today’s NFL), Richardson bounced back in a huge way on Sunday. He completed 20 of 30 passes (66.7%), for 272 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. He also ran for 2 scores and made some big-time throws on Indy’s game-winning drive. In fact, he made several great throws throughout the afternoon:
Richardson delivered in the most critical moments. On third down, he completed 6 of 9 passes for 105 yards and ran for a touchdown. He was also 6-of-8 for 87 yards against the blitz. And on the Colts’ final drive, needing a touchdown with just over 2 minutes remaining, he completed all 3 of his pass attempts for 60 yards and rushed for the game-winning score.
We’re going to try something new for this post. I went through roughly 20 plays from Richardson’s performance over in the Chat function of Substack. Click on the link below to check it out.
