The addition of Penn State Edge Rusher Abdul Carter now gives the Giants a potentially dominant D-line. The prospect of Carter, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence all rushing the passer is not something NFC East quarterbacks can be excited about.
Everything you’ve probably heard about Carter as a player is true. He’s got speed, explosion, get-off, bend, etc.:
Carter was an off-the-ball linebacker prior to 2024, so there’s still room for him to grow as a pass rusher. But you can see that the tools and pure ability is there.
It will be very interesting to see how the Giants deploy Carter. Similar to another #11 from Penn State, Micah Parsons, he has the athleticism, versatility, and experience as a linebacker to align in a variety of places.
Don’t be surprised to see the Giants move him inside sometimes in obvious passing situations to get him matched on a guard (while Burns and Thibodeaux attack off the edge). He’ll also be able to command attention inside on blitzes and stunts, opening things up for pass rushers elsewhwere:
